moe’s

Brian and I are at Moe’s.

I wanted a Pellegrino to go with the meal, which they no longer have. Person on duty suggested a Dasani Sparkling which I’ve never had before. Good enough.

cassette deck

Memories of the Kmart cassingle (cassette single).

We got disco, on eight tracks and cassettes in stereo…

just a pithy trillion dollars

thought it said, “USA spent more than a BILLION dollars during 20 years of war in Afghanistan”

What a bargain. Seems kinda cheap.

Then I remembered that BILLIÓN in Spanish is TRILLION in English. So, it’s “USA spent more than a TRILLION dollars during 20 years of war in Afghanistan”

WooHoo!

Yeah sure, short an intermittent stimulus check by $600, give every large business in the city a tax “abatement,” and still somehow get dopes to sit on their asses downtown in front of cameras and beg for their taxes to be raised to pay city salaries.

All those yachts in Dubai Harbour, it’s maritime lifestyle like no other!

tcl 10 pro camera test at country park

I slipped a SIM into a rather inexpensive (compared to some) Android mobile that I recently ordered. It doesn’t have the “horsepower” of some that I’ve had, but it runs sweetly and has a straightforward beautiful interface that I like. It has Android 11.

It is a TCL 10 Pro – T799B. Got it for $315 mainly due to TCL now releasing the 20 Pro series thus dating this 10 Pro. Price went down by $135. Original TCL 10 Pro price was $450.

I’m no expert, but the camera seems adequate to me for a “cheap” smartphone. We went out to Country Park today to goof off and take some pictures with the TCL 10 Pro. I like budget devices that actually work.

A nice thing about going budget is that you don’t have to run ’em till they drop, unless you want to. If you smash it or lose it, your life won’t be completely over.

vito’s again

Vito’s.

bleach

I enjoy bleaching laundry. Weird?

old tale

Here’s a tale from decades ago.

I met this really sweet guy at the discotheque. I was smitten almost immediately. Snappy dresser, too.

He wanted me to meet him the next day at the Borders bookstore. I thought that was a bit strange, because I thought it was going so well that we could have gotten started immediately.

I go to Borders the next day. There he is! We sit down at a table together, and he whips out…. an MLM (multi-level marketing) presentation.

My scalp burned hot with embarrassment, disappointment, and anger. I was pleased that I did not have any weapons with me.

old story from my teen years

Very old story.

I worked on Patterson Avenue in Greensboro today. It reminded me of my first serious crush. I was 16, he was 19, so I felt he was old and probably about right for me. Name was Carl, and he worked in a building on Patterson.

I met him at a party and gave him my phone number and told him to be careful because I was afraid of my family finding out. He was completely out, fearless, and left obvious messages on the family answering machine which caused me great anxiety.

When I told him not to do that, he said, “I’ll leave the ball in your court until you grow up.” I was especially hurt by the flippant sports ball/court reference.

It goes to show that sometimes one’s first crush is to a stinker.

Years later, I was pleased to run into him again until he said, “I wanted to date you when we were teenagers, but I left the ball in your court and you didn’t return the volley.”

That recurring flippant sports reference hurt even more the second time.

All that pain just from driving on Patterson Ave. today.

Some of my later crushes were much much better.

aunt pearl or something

Aunt Jemima became Pearl Milling. lol

I’m on my last GD box then I’ll stop. 😁

It’s too old to eat anyway. Been on the back of the shelf a long time.
