I'm in upper Michigan this week for work, and I'm camping in a hotel for a day and a half while a coworker gets here. My flights getting here went OK, but he got denied boarding yesterday due to an oversold flight, or maybe he was drunk. I don't know. 😆
So, I'm in a lonely hotel with little to do. My employer will help out with a rental car or a few taxi rides if I ask for them, but I usually don't. I like the opportunity to find things to do, like reading, net surfing, and exploring the nearby area on foot even if it's 17 degrees (-8C) outside. The walking, especially, is something I need to do a lot more of.
Near the hotel is a K-Mart, so that's where I went this afternoon to get out of the room for awhile.
Image #1: My approach on foot to the Big-K (K-Mart). As usual, it looks a little beaten and sad. If any company needed to die a long time ago, it's this one, but like a cockroach hit with a nuke at ground zero, it just keeps crawling pathetically along. Wal-Mart does more business at the return counter than most K-Marts do for the entire store. See the cars out front? I bet most are employees, so it's doubtful there are more than a handful of customers in the store.
Image #2: Well, there is some happiness at the K-Mart. I was greeted with this display upon entering the store. "Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2" is finally out on DVD! At over $20, I'm sure I can get it cheaper somewhere else, so I'll wait.
Image #3: I did make one score at the K-Mart. The first Beverly Hills Chihuahua was marked down from $14.99 to $9.99, I suppose because the new one is out, so I bagged the sale! As a big fan of haute cinema, this will work perfectly for a little movie party I'm planning for back home.
Are you in the UP near Marquette where Yooperprof lives, or in northern lower Michigan? Either way, you should find a good place for "pasties" pron. paa-stees. Yummy!
Oh forgot to ask, did anyone at Kmart have teeth? 😀

Amazingly most did. So unlike back home.Might have to try a pastie.
The K-Mart around here is a sad, little store as well.I go to Wal-Mart for the best deals. Although, during the holidays, you have to push the mo-fo's outta your way. 🙂

I try to minimize my visits to Wal-Mart, but I've been in a few. If around, I try to go to Target. At least you can come out with a little of your dignity intact. The Walmarts at home are pretty nasty, but of course, not as nasty as K-Mart. At least at Kmart it's almost funny.
