Chris Christy is morbidly obese and got to be diabetic and hypertensive. A gust of wind would probably knock him over.

people and dog dinners
Preparing some acorn squash as part of dinner with some Science Diet (dog food) picturesquely off to the side. Human and dog dinners often get prepared simultaneously.
I saved and roasted the seeds. They came out ok. Crunchy and yummy.
elections
I keep seeing “hold officials accountable” and “hold their feet to the fire.”
I don’t think this is really possible. It’s just prevoting talk.
Also, “resist.”
geocities – orville glockmyer’s banana
When we first went online with home dialup in the 90’s, we loved Orville Glockmyer’s Banana on Geocities, AKA The Bananaboy.
It finally hit me to look on the WaybackMachine at the Internet Archive.
Everybody had a Geocities page in them days.

continued chock full o’ nuts analysis
Look at that sale! $4.99 a can. That converts to $3.07 a pound. Well worth buying even though it’s the new reduced-size can.
In the other picture, the can on the left is the outgoing size, 30.5 oz. (864 g). The can on the right is the new size, 26 oz. (737 g).
This is what is often referred to as the “grocer’s shrink ray,” even though it comes from the manufacturer. The standard unit of coffee used to be a pound. Now some of those little packages have as little as 10 oz. You could blow on the shelf and they would scatter like the flying seeds of a dandelion.
Other products where the shrink ray has gone to the ridiculous extreme: orange juice and ice cream. A lot of time is spent styling up those containers to make them look like they hold more than they do. The ice cream, especially, can be pumped full of air.
malcolm x
One of the earliest book reports I ever wrote was on The Autobiography of Malcolm X. I think it was early junior-high school when I did it, so it would have been my early teens. I picked it merely because I liked the title. I had little idea of what I was in for.
When I told the teacher of my selection, she showed surprise and seemed cautiously enthusiastic, like “you sure?” She later ended up giving me an “A” on my report with ‘Wow!” written on the front page along with other comments.
As a young white teenager, the book often hurt my feelings, made me angry, and for awhile I cast it off as rubbish and sought a different selection.
It ended up being a great foundation for a lot of my thinking. It was a good year in school with this supportive teacher. I don’t remember which teacher now. This book is as relevant now as ever.
