bah humbug

It galls me to think about when I watched a recent video from the leader of my religious denomination where she breathlessly said that the last election was the most transparent, free, and fair in history, and that love won.

It definitely reduces my trust in leadership.

waffle in trauma

I don’t remember if I mentioned this one before.

I stopped by a Waffle House one morning a few weeks ago. The cook was sitting on the walkway out front having a cigarette. He was greeting each inbound customer-to-be.

He looked a bit stressed as he told me that everybody had walked out and that he wasn’t going to run the place by himself. He braced a bit as he waited for yet another smart-ass reply that morning. I’m sure he had gotten many. I told him that I felt for what was happening and that I hoped it got better. “Have a good one.” “You, too.” Then, I left.

I don’t know why he was hanging around. None of my business, I guess. No need to be rude to someone for telling it like it is.

twitter don’t let me go astray

God knows. Protect me from harm. Deliver me from evil.

My sixth grade teacher would have bristled at such a warning as this one.

desert destruction

The wonder of storytelling. Border stories. Hia C-ed O’odham. Arizona. Desert destruction.

whaddabout this one?

It has long been to the point that I don’t believe (and probably never will) a single word any western person says about China, Russia, Iran, and many other places.

I don’t do research projects to refute the endless whataboutisms every time somebody findz ’em a new one and swears that it’s THE ONE that proves something.

industrial parks

While driving by industrial parks, sometimes I can smell the tax-free (actually fraud) aroma in the air. I need a little piece of land and a building in one of those.

Companies with names you’ve never heard of in brand new pristine buildings with a manicured campus. Some of them are one-trick one-product ponies manufacturing such important things as an anti-static wipe or a plastic injector pen.

Huge beautiful buildings with 75 loading docks, but you only see three or four trailers out there. The pavement is not even dirty where the trucks supposedly run around. I bet the trailers that are parked out there are props.

anything but direct aid to the people

Funeral services advertising like mad on my Facebook feed. Maybe it’s that government gift they just got from FEMA. ⚰️ 🙄

1960s nuke fun

When I was in grade school, there was a particularly hot flare of the Cold War going on, and the school was going over plans for what to do if the nukes flew. 💣

After the drill, my teacher said, “y’all know this is ridiculous, right? What are you going to have, half an hour, maybe? It’s not going to matter if you’re here, on the school bus, or at home, it’s going to be over.”

I liked that woman. She dug into a lot of subjects with that directness.

all the wrong moves

Someone I know was going off today about people who use self checkouts. If I don’t want to see anybody, stressing, feel down, etc., themz the ones I use.

— I also shop at Walmart sometimes AND use the self checkouts.
— I have an Amazon credit card.
— I prefer Starbucks over those “small, locally owned, coffee shops.”

Unfriend me now! lol

coches usados y banderas

My morning walk to Popeyes, I spotted something special in the air. 🇨🇺

Right hyar in America! 😉

I learned long ago, that while in Florida, don’t go braggin’ around that ya been there. Sometimes they’ll let fly at you like Mussolini from the balcony.
