doing my part to help learners of english

Look away! Contains the word “sex.” 😬

I have a cool Internet chat buddy in Iran who is always working on conversational English, so sometimes there are weird questions that I stumble to answer.

This morning, this is waiting on my messenger:

“What do you say to somebody after a night of drunk sex?”

Me: “Best I ever had!”

Him: “Perfect, thanks!”

So far he has not provided updates on that. I love his irreverent sense of humor. We play well together. Friends for 17 years.

much more sure than the lottery

Not too long now before these will reprise:
— the most important election of our lifetimes.
— if you didn’t vote like I did, unfriend me now.

silent night

This one’s really good. Silent Night is a favorite, anyway. Goes well in so many languages.

get the large bottles and save

Went for a walk to increase strength and stamina and accidentally came back with these. Well, ok, I took a reusable shopping bag with me.

Couple of holidays coming up, so might as well stock up with the Val-U-Size. The more U drink, the more U save. These will actually last a long time. 😉

The added weight of the shopping bag walking back home increased my heart rate, so all in all, a good cardio and muscular strengthening exercise. 🏋️

stars of the summer night

We used to sing this in elementary school. Web search says it’s Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

All these decades later and it will sometimes still pop into my head, while driving, while cycling, while having a tense moment at work.

Stars of the Summer Night

  1. Stars, stars of the summer night,
Far, far in yon azure deeps
    Hide, hide your golden light,
    She sleeps, my lady sleeps.
She sleeps, she sleeps, my lady sleeps.
  2. Moon, moon of the summer night,
Far, far down yon western steeps
    Sink, sink in silver light,
    She sleeps, my lady sleeps.
She sleeps, she sleeps, my lady sleeps.
  3. Wind, wind of the summer night,
    Where yonder woodbine creeps,
    Fold, fold thy pinnions light,
    She sleeps, my lady sleeps.
She sleeps, she sleeps, my lady sleeps.

salad bar

I got us both a Covid salad for dinner. 😏

day ride

Continuing with my DIY rehab, i.e. cycling.

Selfies.

One is behind the old Sears warehouse on Lawndale. Sometimes I imagine that the entire building is full of people in cages being transited.

The other is Cone Boulevard tunnel. So pleasant to go underneath all that busy car traffic.
