smoky-ass B-52’s, not the ones from Athens, GA

Two Global Policeman’s B-52’s landing during Eunice. Look at those smoky engines. I’ll think about that while I pluck out my little token recyclables from the trash each time.

I was on US-70 near Goldsboro years ago when one went over my car. It, too, laid down a nice smoke blanket and shook me any my car so hard that it blurred my vision.

When I was a child, even commercial passenger jets smoked that hard.

fiber internet installer nearby

A neighbor is getting NorthState (fiber Internet, TV, phone if you want it). The installer van is on the street. For a short time, this will make up for running that loud leaf blower for hours at a time. 👍

They had Spectrum. Spectrum’s wiring is so bad on this street that the jacket on their coax has been shedding in my yard for years. In certain parts of the street, it’s hanging so low that a person could reach up and grab it. If I get tired enough of cleaning up the shedding, I’ve thought about taking a hoe and yanking it down to the ground. It probably wouldn’t make a difference.

chocomil

This stuff is GOOD. Gotta get the dark. It reminds me of grade school when chocolate milk was sometimes an option on the school lunch. I was one of the few who liked school lunches unless they put something really stupid on there, like stewed prunes.

Maybe somebody will school me on how not all the ingredients are perfectly healthy, how almonds use a lot of water, or how the company might be evil. 😝

general wordpress thought

WordPress can be painful to use. The desktop and mobile apps can be, umm, less than straightforward.

The upside is that people like to write their asses off on WordPress, and I like that. Reading long posts through the night while at work, lol, is a pleasure.

The comments are much less of a squalling mess as compared to Twitter, for example.

Add all-night chatting on Telegram with people on the other side of the world who are up anyway or with nightowls in the same hemisphere.

ensalada de excelencia

Salad from Fresh Market. Olive Garden dressing is a Walmart item.

Walmart not only has Olive Garden dressing, they have Taco Bell salsa by the jar. The finer things. 🥂

blogger

For me, the most marvelous thing about social media is documenting the ordinary things in one’s life through blogging, microblogging, Tweets, etc. It’s a diary written on a virtual wall. “I was here. This happened. I thought this.” It doesn’t matter if anyone even reads it. It’s better to post like no one is. I have a preference for the less popular social media sites.

I’ve enjoyed it since the first time I got a howling dialup modem to access a phone line.

“I’m eating a roll at the buffet!” is a perfectly valid post.

missing an old friend

I had a detailed dream last night about my earliest childhood friend. We’d been friends since we were toddlers. She died just a couple of years ago due to an illness. It was a great long friendship. It took me some time to come out from the dream this morning due to emotion. I miss her a lot. Janet.

I went to visit my friend’s mother several years ago before she, too, passed. She was pushing 100.

It was a little funny, because the mother looked me in the eye and asked, “were my children good children in the neighborhood?”

She really wanted to know.

I looked her in the eye and replied, “yes! They were good. They liked to play and cut up, but they always knew when to draw the line.”

The mother was pleased.

Driving home afterwards, I said to myself, “you lied your ass off on that one. They were total hellions.” lol.

I loved the entire family. Their house was a great sanctuary for me when things were difficult at my house.

vitos and mambo italiano

Our usual draft beers at Vito’s Italian Restaurant, Golden Gate, Greensboro.

Rosemary Clooney, Mambo Italiano, on the sound system. Nice mood.
