small kitchen electrics

Thinking of Ron Popeil and Ronco, though I’d never buy that Showtime rotisserie he advertised. It looked messy and uncleanable.

I enjoy countertop electrics, those “electrodomésticos.” I have three slow cookers (Crock Pots) of various sizes, a toaster oven, blender, a “Foreman” grill, waffle maker, etc.

Each one designed to perform some specific miracle.

I bought a cheap (starter model, I guess) food dehydrator as a holiday gift to myself a few days ago. I want to see if I like it. I travel a lot for work and could use the snacks that can supposedly be made in one of these.

This cheap dehydrator arrived yesterday afternoon, and I immediately set out on a test run with bananas.

I didn’t realize that it can take a long time to get some things dry, and in the case of bananas, crispy. Maybe these banana chips will end up costing $400 in electricity.

The included book said some things can take 38 hours. ⚡😱

z’s “what i want for christmas” visit

Media so lacking in details that I cannot find out if one creep visiting another creep in DC has wrapped it up yet.

After numerous searches, I finally found out it was a less than 12-hour visit, so thankfully it’s over.

pistachios

I scored a 20 oz (567 g) bag of roasted pistachios the other day at a good price. Once I start eating them, stopping is difficult.

Mountains of shells are forming.

barely adequate winter headgear

With the cold nights coming up, I looked for possible headgear.

The choices are:

— a couple of “newsboy” caps from Italy. Is that strange?
— a Che/Castro red-star cap from Cuba
— my warmest full-size Gap cap is missing. Still looking.

One of them will warm my heart the most, but all will do.

postcard campaign and other busy work

Postcard campaign: writing postcards urging people to vote (i.e. GOTV: get out the vote).

I went to a “social justice” meeting, and this was what was going on. Busy work for liberals.

I availed myself of the snacks and left.

Other things I view as useless:

— phone/text banking
— writing form letters that don’t even make sense to elected officials

empire lovers to mastodon!

Gross.

Some of the resistance phonies and empire propaganda shitheads are headed to Mastodon.

In that case, these should go, too. Well, some already have. There are so many

holiday “nogs”

Some things have been hard to find since all the shit started, like generics and store brands, for example.

These non-dairy nogs have been scarce. I like them much better than the traditional concoctions. Both of these are good. These two just recently turned up in Target. I’d been watching the bare shelves since late November and was thinking I wouldn’t see any for yet another year.

They are good straight up or splashed in coffee. Strangely, I don’t like rum in nogs.

those fb friend requests

TFW I go out to eat with a group, then later a few sweetly send friend requests on FB even though I didn’t mention having an account there.

I browse their timelines first and it’s 17 hours a day of compulsive posting about how all the bad started in 2016 with DT.

I’m not a Repub, but I don’t need that shit.

Later, “I sent you a friend request. Didn’t you get it?”

Me: “I don’t get on much. I’ll look again.” 🤣

They’re just looking for a damned audience. 🙄

silent night

It’s that Stille Nacht, AKA Noche de Paz.
