You never know who is behind these things, but…

Frankly, my dear, IDGAF

so many gone

While I have time off from work to recuperate from something, names from the past keep popping into my head.

I’m running lots of searches. One after the other: dead, dead, dead, whole family dead.

I’m not THAT old.

shameless lies

Such horrible lies.

Some goof Tweeted: “$6.53 for a coffee at Starbucks. I’m done with that shit.”

I pulled up the ‘Bux online and priced a 16 oz coffee in what his profile says is his area. $2.75, $3.00 including tax.

I can get a 20 oz Caramel Brulée Latte to price almost that high but not quite.

Only 20 Tweets down does he admit that it was “some kind of latte.”

Coulda been airport, but I get things all the time in airports and coffee doesn’t top $5, usually less.

If you’re going to cook a narrative, stick with it. I always do. 😀

christmas music

Mariah Carey should be featured more prominently.

telephone

Just a moment ago I was thinking about how long it has been since somebody opened the door of the house and yelled to somebody else in the yard, “TELEPHONE!” 🗣️📣📞

passwords

I groan when I have to create yet another username/password account for some diddlysquat thing. Yep, love keeping track of it all.

Most password managers and web browsers will now generate and save one for you. If not, this works well:

You can mix/match/modify things from the three boxes partway down. I also date every creation and reset to know when things are getting old. Keep a safe backup somewhere in case of device failure.

Some people also like complex, yet memorize-able, pass phrases. There are many methods.

it goes on

Sometimes I want to say, “I have no interest in your unvetted half-baked prattle,” but I want to maintain a friend or two here and there.

Who am I to be preachy, anyway.

taking mom out for birthday long ago

An old story about a time when I got annoyed with my mother. It became funny to us even before the day was over and is now a treasured memory.

Decades ago, I wanted to take my mom out for her birthday to someplace nice. I saved up, meaning that I paid down a credit card to the point that I could actually use it somewhere.

We went to a place called Equinox at Friendly Center.

“Let’s have some drinks Mom!” She orders a GD Budweiser which set my teeth on edge. I was hoping that Equinox didn’t carry Bud, but they did.

“Why not, Mom? Are you sure? Maybe they have PBR!” The server played along, “we carry that, too.” I got explosively tense.

Server brings the bottle of Bud, and my mother declines the glass. I said “maybe you’d like a straw?” as I was melting into the chair.

Server keeps pushing it by placing a straw by her bottle. Fortunately, by that time, it was crossing over into being funny.

I then said, “you can take the girl out of Georgia, but you can’t take the Georgia out of the girl.” No offense to Georgia, but I had to get a dig in. That pissed her off, so we started to get even, lol.

I don’t know what was up that day. As time went by, we joked about it more and more.

guadalajara bus stop

The places I can still find on Google Maps. This means nothing to anybody but me.

Guadalajara 1980, a mere 41 years ago, I used to catch the bus to school and sit under that same tree where the guy is sitting to wait for it. The first few days, I was scared out of my GD mind. Huge city, no language ability, afraid of everything. I swear I started smoking because of it. I was in urgently bad mental shape at that time, anyway.

One of the many times I went back was 2015 with Brian. I had a taxi drop us off at this intersection and told Brian that I needed to go sit under that tree for a minute.

I sat for a minute then said, “OK, I’m all better now, let’s go!” Brian knows the story.

car selfie

I can ride in a car without difficulty. lol
