The Time Tunnel.
A TV show I watched as a child. I wanted to walk into that thing and just be gone.

The Time Tunnel.
A TV show I watched as a child. I wanted to walk into that thing and just be gone.

I had lunch in a restaurant the other day. Do I pay the server, or is there a cashier?
The server said there was a cashier, but I could also pay at the table by scanning the QR code on the check. I’d seen that before, and wanted to finally try it. I’ve used table terminals before, a la Olive Garden, but never the code.
Payment was quick, spiffy, and I was out the door doing a quick crotch grab toward the cashier as I passed in the lobby. j/k
Somebody gonna say that I’m killing those cashier jobs and that I shouldn’t work for the restaurant for free by cashing myself out. 😝

TFW the doctor’s office calls, texts, e-mails, and sends so many mychart messages that you’d rather stay home sick instead of having the ass ridden that hard about an appointment.

I was in the hotel breakfast bar before work this morning. CNN en Español was on the TV with the sound turned down, so I entertained myself by reading the captions and the crawler bar.
It was pitched at even a lower level than I expected. It was totally Spanish 101.
CÑÑ while I was nibbling on my hotel waffle:
— cyber attacks up 49% in the Americas
— most organizations in Mexico have received at least one ransomware attack
— something about China cracking down on dissidents
— a little segment from Mark Zuckerberg and Meta
In other words, same shit different language. I don’t know why anybody would waste their time with that network in any language except for entertainment purposes. It was, however, nice to watch a little TV without a segment on that proxy war.

It’s all part of a pirate’s daily meal. 🏴☠️

There’s something about gold trim on a car that can mean the driver is detached in some way. I don’t know why.
Coming back from Elon this morning, I wanted to take the two-lane back roads rather than getting on the Interstate.
A big fat Lincoln with gold trim turned in front of me and I had to stand on the brakes. It was a lot of very slow miles until our ways parted. It went so slow I could literally count the ripples on the wheel covers glimmering in the sunlight.
Other vehicles known to have slow detached drivers:
— any older Lexus
— sub compact pickups like Chevy S10 and Ford Ranger
Extra points off the pickups if the driver is smoking, has on a straw hat, or the truck is a brand that no longer exists, like Datsun.
You might as well pull off and take a break.

Born To Dance (1936).
That’s Jimmy Stewart (center) and Buddy Ebsen (right).
They should just… kiss. It would forever improve The Beverly Hillbillies for me.

Just got the bill.
How ’bout that. 100% increase in my property taxes over just a few years ago. The gov. will say, “we didn’t increase taxes.”
No increase in the rate, maybe, but instead value my house up into the ozone.
Let’s see if we can slather on some bond issues every election to add to the fun.
Then, there are the ones that parade themselves for the TV cameras saying, “I’d gladly pay a little more in taxes if…”
That sounds fine as long as it’s just gladly YOUR taxes specifically.
