my meditation deck in guadalajara 1980

This is the view from the back deck of the house where I stayed my first time in Guadalajara, Jalisco in 1980. So many decades later, and I still think about it all the time. Off in the distance, the Providencia neighborhood.

I grew up in the county in North Carolina where it was quiet all the time, and not much around. This was a big change for me at age 21.

The weather in Guadalajara was so superb with occasional wild thunderstorms to break things up. I could get a lot of thinking done on that back deck. The house is still there.

The big city smelled and sounded different. People had a lot of flowers around. I could hear the strident ring of the standard Telmex desk phone all over. There was the chirp of the air brakes of the city busses, the distinctive whistles and bells of milkmen, postal service, vendors. Children screaming, babies crying, sometimes people arguing and me trying to grasp the subject.

I was so pleased to be there. I stand on the back porch of my house to this day and think of the moments on that back deck 42 years ago.

I even viewed the small things as miracles. I had my first espresso and frozen yogurt in Guadalajara. Exotic! lol.

To beat all, I ended up facing some things and liberating my inner self there.

BTW, the white dog in the photo was named Rufo.

lucy

Sweet Lucy. We miss her so much. She lived a long time and was a wonderful girl.

Every dog we adopted, she took them on as a friend.

horrible moka pot accident

I was standing directly over the sink unscrewing it and lost my grip on it, but instead of falling into the sink, oh no, it falls on the floor.

My entire weekend is ruined. lol

all fluffy on the chat

All alone on the FluffyChat.

launch it

Oh, launchers!

One button on the panel, six websites, all launched and loaded. 🔫

All done with the Vivaldi browser in this case.

bios went wonky

All I did was have a tiny little peek at the BIOS settings on the new computer, and something went wonky. It was a little frightening to see the new box rendered unbootable for a little while, right at my bedtime, too.

Fortunately, doing a little reading and playing with it some, I figured out how to clear out that invalid signature stuff.

It was a relief to see the operating system come back on the screen. Whew!

blue skies, all i can see are…

The sky looking good this morning as I was setting up for work.

the pain of videoconference

This reminds me of when everything was done by Zoom two years ago, when there were always a few who left the camera on full time, close to the mouth, and shoveled in food throughout the entire meeting.

I just did a “Teams” meeting where one left the camera on and deep chain smoked close to it the whole time. Mouth wide open in a big “O,” I guess due to COPD. Why not share your emphysema with the group?

Then same one puts hands behind head when not smoking so we have to look at armpits. No self awareness whatsoever.

When I get notice of a required Zoom or Teams meeting, the dread starts early. Many things cannot be unseen.

can you give me a minute to make the bed?

Get off of it! LOL

hoarding

After the shortages two years ago, I still haven’t gotten over my compulsion to buy paper towels and toilet paper every time I see it in the stores. I brought home two more packages today.
