nada de nuevo

The hotel explosion yesterday in Havana was the Saratoga. In 2005, we spent an afternoon exploring that area.
Our 2005 pic shows the green Saratoga as seen from the steps of the Capitolio (Capitol Building). The other pic is a recent news one from granma.cu moments after the explosion.
When I heard of the explosion today, the first thing I thought was that Miami did it. Probably not true. It looks to have been a liquefied natural gas explosion.
I’ll be waiting to see what happens to the building. You know it will break hearts to see it come down.

Weird things that happen during the work day.
I use the term “minister” loosely below.
I’m minding my own business at work, and the name Creflo Dollar pops into my head. To me, a fairly boring televangelist.
It’s all beause I’m in a forum involving shortwave radio, and an earlier deceased minister named Bro Stair of Walterboro, South Carolina came up. His fondness was broadcasting by shortwave radio and satellite link.
Then I thought back to Reverend Ike (Frederick J. Eikerenkoetter II). As a child, I used to hear his wailing cadence coming out of AM radios everywhere. “You can’t lose with the stuff I use.” “Do you want pie in the sky when you die, or do you want your pie now with ice cream on top?” Absolutely unforgettable.
In my opinion, all swindlers.
As far as charisma, I would rank them like this:
— Reverend Ike
(big gap)
— Bro Stair
(another big gap)
— Creflo Dollar

Oh, grow up. I’m just trying to order Chinese takeout, not steer the Space Shuttle.

Proton Technologies (Protonmail, VPN, etc) “secure communications tools” based in Switzerland, keeps blogging about their digital rights advocacy.
“Ensuring people can access accurate information is essential for democracy.”
This, of course is fine, and many times can be a good thing, but they keep lending support to the USA’s favorites.
Going into the political like that has reduced my desire to use the products.

Wouldn’t you really rather drive a Buick?
A Buick
A brand new Buick.
Wouldn’t you really rather drive a Buick?
This year.
A radio ad for Galloway Buick that I remember from when I was a child. It played on my parents’ favorite station, WBIG 1470 AM
Strange things that have happened during my life.
The first place I ever heard of Whitney Houston was while dancing in an outdoor club in Macedonia (then Yugoslavia) near Albania. lol
I asked somebody, “who is that?”
They said, “Weetnie.” 😁

Empty shelves proof of complete system collapse at the Dollar General.
Actually, not really. These were the only shelves in the entire store that weren’t fully stocked. The rest of the store was bursting with things to buy.
I’m posting this because someone I know posted an empty section of Target one time claiming severe supply shortages. All Target was doing was swapping out a section of seasonal for the next holiday.
Why not distort when possible. 😁

It was a helluva lunch today.
Enchiladas suizas with Oaxaca cheese all over.
Habanero Grill. Henderson, North Carolina.

Xavier and Sxip Shirey.
In this song, Xavier is singing about being in trouble for sucking on a cinnamon stick.
You don’t know the trouble he’s in.
