watch out, you are responsible for spills

These signs are common but take on a new meaning when seen at a BP.

it's really good but change of subjectI'm doing english conversation classes & someonewanted the word for pietonnier/rue pietonne which is french. It translates as "walking street or pedestrian street, but that just doesn't sound right. So what do you call a street that has been closed to cars, that usually has stores/shops & now it's for people & bikes ?

  4. "Pedestrian zone" or "Pedestrianized street" – or if you are in England "pedestrianised street"

I sure hope you guys don't mind.I thought of asking on my proper blog, but I don't get a lot of hits. Here it's a bit like a public square, lots of people come to hang out.Originally posted by yooperprof:

Literally that's correct, but it really is such a mouthful.I figured the americans would have found an easier word to use.Come all you "americans" out there, there must be an easier word.I googled it but didn't get any further.

  6. I have heard the term "pedestrian mall" if the area is large.

That's not bad, the mall part, but isn't there a simplerword for "pedestrian"? Think!I was thinking that you could perhaps have a new post especially for questions & answers. You don't post a subject. You could call it a coffee bar or something, even offer wifi. (-:That way I don't come around diverting people from your chosen subject. What do you think of the idea?PS: Notice no ellipses, I even used sentence structure. The question is, is this better or worse?

The Yooperprof is a brilliant man and I would trust his translation

On a blog, I've never cared a bit if things meander. It can be fun. It's forums, especially tech support ones, where I hate a topic hijack. I post something like, "my Linux box won't boot." Then some dope posts, "I just got a new iPhone," and everybody forgets your post to talk about some damned phone. :irked: Originally posted by holdencaulfield3:

I just don't know. In Mexico "plaza" would handle it all, but the USA isn't much of a plaza country.Originally posted by operainchicago:

Agree. I even went out and got a bottle of red wine he recommended from Target. Haven't opened it yet though. :wine: πŸ˜€

Oops, forgot that last one. It's better, though I don't want to open up that can of worms again. πŸ˜€

  11. Save your Target wine for a really special event – like the opening of the new pedestrian zone (or mall) in your home town! :drunk: :hat:
