the ram is all lubed up

Yesterday, I bought the stuff, so today I did the job.

Image #1: Oil changed, plus the oil and air filters, radiator flushed, chassis lubed, state inspection done. It's ready to tow!

Image #2: Whenever doing routine service under the hood, throw some baking soda around on the top of the battery, brush it around with some water, and rinse it off. This removes the caked electrolyte which can cause current to conduct across the top of the battery and drain it slowly. This battery is nice and clean.

  1. That's a nice car! I like the Dodge, there's a car dealer just a bit further down the road, selling Chrysler and Dodge. I especially like the Calibra. Definately need to get a driver's license and win a lottery.

  2. I'm surprised to hear of the better fuel economy. Here, the idea that American cars have a bad mileage, is still very much alive.Fuel prizes have always been much lower in the US, so it was understandable, but, sadly, hardly affordable to buy an American car.

  3. Hey, thanks. This one is a 2001 Ram pickup. It was the last year before the body got restyled again. The current styling looks too puffed up for me, but I hear the engine is better. Some of the Japanese makers have rolled out full-sized pickups, but I hear the fuel economy is the worst. Imagine that the American brands actually have better fuel economy than the Japanese. Hard to believe.I can tow a big trailer with this one and still not do too badly on the gasoline.

  4. Thanks for the tip on battery maintence

  5. 23.5 liters per 100 km is not considered reasonable over here, not even when towing. In city traffic 7 liters for a sedan is good. It really is about the prices of gasoline. Before cars drunk like templars.

  6. It might just be the pickup trucks that, in general, do better. When we are towing and gaining altitude, it drinks gas, but I hear the Toyotas and Nissans drink more. It's a complaint that I've heard from all over. When towing a large travel trailer, 10 mpg is considered reasonable. Converted, it's 4.25 kpl, or 23.52 liters per 100k. Unloaded, of course, it's a lot better. We were towing in Wyoming years ago, and ascending the Rocky Mountains required really pressing into the accelerator. We always began to look for gas as soon as it hit the halfway mark, just to be safe. It didn't take long to finish off that last half a tank.Conversion:http://www.teaching-english-in-japan.net/conversion/miles_per_gallonEven though mine's a Dodge, it was assembled in Mexico City from components from Mexico and USA. That made me have doubts about the quality, but so far it has been OK.

operainchicago will enjoy this if she stops by. There was an episode of Seinfeld where Elaine was in a bar trying to trap a politician into some sleaze by coming onto him.She said:I don't have a job…I don't even have an apartment…I just kind of sleep around.I just like to have a few drinks and let the guy do whatever he wants!
