eartha kitt

Eartha Kitt died just a few days ago at the age of 81. Another link here.

I didn't know much about her until recently, but I remember dancing a lot to her famous disco song, "Where is My Man" back during the 80's. People in the clubs I frequented back then always spoke of her in reverent tones. She had iconic status.

She wrote three autobiographies, one of them entitled, "I'm Still Here: Confessions of a Sex Kitten" (1989). I think I'll read that one!

She was cool.

  1. yes, she was cool, and she will be sadly missed

  2. I love the ones who have had distinguished, and sometimes wild, careers spanning many decades.Years ago I saw the film, The Whales of August. I was so in awe at Bette Davis, Vincent Price, and Lillian Gish giving those nearly final command performances. Lillian Gish was a silent film star, and there she was in a talkie in 1987. I was so amazed.

  3. it was surprising to c a lot of the "slient" film stars show up in the "talkie" ones. Lon Chaney Sr is a good example of that.
