tire rotation on the ram

I've gotten tired of paying almost $20 every time I need a tire rotation, so I bought an extra jack and did it myself. These are the nicest riding tires I've ever had, and I want them to last a long time. They were expensive but probably worth it. Michelins.

Pic 1: everything well under way.

Pic 2: all jacked up.

Pic 3: notice the bolt is broken off at the lower right on the drum. It's those morons at Sears. I'll never go there again. Last time they left 2 nuts loose ON THE SAME WHEEL and 1 on another wheel! I caught it and had them fix it, but I bet their piss-poor techs are responsible for this broken bolt. I'll have it fixed next week. 4 nuts will hold it for a few days.

Pic 4: almost done. Spinning the nuts on.

  1. That broken bolt reminds me of halloween a couple of years ago. We all climbed into my Land Rover and went out to visit a bunch of creepy standing stones. When we came back to the vehicle a car shot off as we were approaching, we thought that was a bit weird out there in the middle of nowhere but everything seemed OK. Vehicle still locked, everything all present and correct. We decided that whatever these fiendish malefactors had been up to we must have interupted them before they were able to commit their dastardly deed.20 miles later the passenger side front wheel came off and rolled on down the road ahead of us.Fortunately there was an embankment at the side of the road and I was able to pull off quite sweetly and then I chased the runnaway wheel. It crossed the road and rolled on, I crossed the road and chased on. That dang road was a slow downhill for what appeared to be roughly a thousand miles, give or take a yard or two, and my legs were just about to give up when the wheel hit something, bounced onto the path, and fell over. Moments later a car came up the other way.During the time it took me to roll that tyre back up the hill I reflected upon what might have happened if that car had been seconds earlier and the wheel had hit them full on. Not nice I decided, and having put the wheel back on supported by three nuts from each of the other wheels I called in to report the incident to the police, after all, someone could have been killed. They made a note of the value of the missing nuts and said they'd be sure to let me know if anyone handed them in….

  2. Good story!

  3. Wow, I can't believe someone would do that! Just as long as you get the tire on, then were all good!
