smoke me

I came home today and found this pack of L&M beside the driveway, open, single cigarette sticking out. Only a lighter or book of matches beside it could have made it more tempting.

It was crying out, “smoke me, smoke me!” I ran it under my nose to take in the aroma, which even with this budget brand, was enticing. Just one won’t hurt a thing.

I regained myself, crumpled it up, and threw it in the trash. I’ve not slipped once since the great cold turkey in 2014. After the first six months, I’ve not even had a real close call, until today.

It’s the unexpected things that can throw a person.

If it had been an American Spirit (yum), I’da lit the bitch up.
