Once in awhile I read government documents directly rather than reading about them.
This one, Protecting American Monuments, Memorials, and Statues and Combating Recent Criminal Violence, is full of hilarity, though, of course, it’s not hilarious. It seems like mostly an opinion piece.
Jesus gets special mention: “the United States to prosecute to the fullest extent permitted under Federal law… any person or any entity that damages, defaces, or destroys religious property, including by attacking, removing, or defacing depictions of Jesus or other religious figures or religious art work.”
I think nobody will give a shit about damage to any non-Jesus depiction. Am I allowed to damage these Jesus depictions on my own property? Define depiction, since nobody really knows. I’m just thinking out loud.
