Coke float = scoop of vanilla ice cream swimming in Coca-Cola.
It's a nice treat on a summer day. I call them "Coke floats" even if made with Pepsi or some other cola.
Some people use 7-Up or root beer instead of Coke, but I don't like those nearly as much.
The Coke float below has a good head on it.
Yum!However, I also enjoy root beer floats
Vanilla ice-cream with Orange Juice is good too!
must be the sugar…

Never tried this one. I'll have to try this with lactose free ice cream at some point 😉
I have never tried the orange juice and vanilla ice cream though. I'm a huge fan of anything "Dreamsicle" flavored. 🙂

Me too!
It seems like I can remember coke floats as a kid far more than root beer floats. Anyone know if they still make 50/50 bars? They were a frozen orange juice bar with a vanilla ice cream center. I remember them being quite popular in elementary school.

That may be one of those foreign west coast things, lol. I don't remember them. There is someone near me who has a Chevy HHR wagon done in orange and white. Amazingly the wacky paint job looks factory, too. That car makes me want a Creamsicle every time it goes by.Oh, I just found 50/50 bar on Wikipedia. It says it's an alternate name for Creamsicle, though there is no citation, so who knows.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creamsicle#Related_snacks

Maybe they are one-and-the-same. I'll investigate more, later.
Who remembers the fountain drink "green river"?

I'm really tempted to try it with soy ice cream. If I can manage in the next day or two, I'll try it and report back with my findings.
Dave it's your job to wiki the green river story and report back to the sweet tooth gang
