I like birds of prey. They seem so powerful and sinister. When I used to have a very small dog, I would worry about her getting carried away by one of these birds.
This hawk was watching us the other morning from just outside the window. The big hi-res pics will be uploaded to the flickr account later.

Ooooooo, had one of these in my huge sumac tree a few years ago. It's either a Desert Hawk or a Peregrine Falcon, both have the speckled underside. Very beautiful. I did watch it swoop down and get a dove in my yard, then watched it devour it. I was so awestruck I didn't think of running to get my camera till the last minute or two. Didn't have my telephoto on so did not get a good closeup. I worry about my little min pin sometimes when I'm not at home. However, she is 14 lbs. and might be too big for these birds….but I still worry.
