on the border in greenville, south carolina

I'm staying in the lovely and cheap Microtel Inn on I-85 near Greenville, South Carolina for two days this week as I complete a couple of jobs in the area. The Microtel has some good wifi, yay! There is an On The Border Mexican Restaurant almost next door, so that's where I went for lunch. Reedplayernc and I love these places and hope they open one near where we live, soon. The food they serve is of the style "Tex-Mex", which is more or less "Amercianized", or "gringo-ized", Mexican food. People often complain that it's not authentic, but we love it! "On The Border" reminds me of the old Chi-Chi's restaurant chain that was popular during the 1980's. It just ain't a real meal if it doesn't come with chips and salsa first.

Image #1: The entrance. The entire building is gawdy and fun, inside and out.

Image #2: The food server suggested the current special, the $8.99 "endless enchiladas." You can have as many as you can eat. They come in beef, chicken, or cheese and onion.

Image #3: My "endless enchiladas" arrive looking like the picture in the menu. I had one chicken and one cheese and onion enchilada….two times! I'm back in the hotel now feeling bloated. They were really good.
